OUR STORY

From a Small Kitchen
to Your Table

THE BEGINNING

Where the smoke first started. 

What began as a simple lockdown hobby soon became something far bigger than we ever imagined.

During lockdown, Craig started growing chilli seedlings to keep busy, with the idea of selling the plants locally. What started as a small passion project quickly flourished, and before long we found ourselves surrounded by an abundance of beautiful chillies — the first fruits of what would become Smoked Oke.

Rather than letting those precious pods go to waste, Craig began experimenting in the kitchen, searching for ways to transform them into something truly special. The result was our very first creation: an oak-smoked Sweet Chilli Sauce. Rich, smoky, and packed with flavour, it quickly became a favourite among family and friends.

 

THE MARKET

The moment a hobby became a brand.

Then one day Lynda’s daughter Morganne said, “Why don’t you take your sauces to a market?”

Knowing one sauce would never be enough, Craig also developed the Chilli Mango, Jalapeno and Peri-Peri.

We attended the Camel Rock Scarborough Market in February in 2022 and to our dismay – it was a great success!

And so, the journey started … from humble beginnings to a a range of over 100 products.

THE BRAND

Built on flavour, passion, and creativity.

We continue to experiment and develop new sauces and products all the time by stretching the boundaries and imagination.

Craig is the saucier, or some like to call him the Alchemist, who brews up all these amazing depths of flavour while Lynda manages the creative side of things like designing labels, managing the website and marketing.

Everything we do is handcrafed in small batches, with real ingredients and our signature oak-smoked flavour at the heart of it all.
